Comment on the
readability of this article.
This article was fairly easy to read and understand.
·
Course Topics covered:
A cohort study.
·
Brief Summary:
A large multiethnic cohort study was done to describe the relationship between
the consumption of fruits and vegetables and the risk of cancer in the male participants. A food frequency questionnaire was
used to account for the food and nutrient intake of the participants. No statistically significant evidence was found in the
relationship between the intake of specific foods and prostate cancer.
·
Identify and attempt
to explain three (3) terms, procedures or concepts that were unfamiliar to you when reviewing this article.
The article referred to data on PSA utilization was a new term that I guess is an element
that the researchers studied. A SEER registry was mentioned and I am not sure what that is at all. The food frequency questionnaire
that was used was one that I have not heard of. I would say that it is a type of questionnaire designed to monitor food intake.
·
Detail the strengths/weaknesses
of this article.
The article gives good information, but with a questionnaire the information is always
unreliable. The study did cover a wide range of people leaving room for non-responses. It gave good information about the
relationship.
·
How might this
article be useful to you in your further studies and career?
Going into radiology I am going to be dealing with some cancer patients and it is useful
to know some of the connections between the cancer and diet. It will also help me in my research study with some of the effects
diet had on prostate cancer.

Does the article
include a list of references/citations that can be used to find more information on the topics they cover? Yes
